Hearing from our communities – what we’ve heard so far

In 2020 we engaged with our communities to hear what’s most important to people for Greater Christchurch.

We’ve had over 3000 responses to the online survey, held workshops with almost 400 rangatahi (young people), and ran a series of stakeholder workshops.

You can read the Greater Christchurch 2050 engagement report [PDF, 747 KB], which summarises what we have heard from our communities through the engagement phase held last year. This document brings together what we heard through the survey, youth engagement, stakeholder workshops, and the leadership workshop.

You can also read a summary of what people in our community have told us [PDF, 3.6 MB] and what we’ve heard from our stakeholder workshops [PDF, 3.8 MB].

Further information and summaries about what we’ve heard can be found at the drop-down boxes below.

During October – November 2020 we ran a community survey asking people what they want to see for 2050, and what their priorities and concerns are.

See a snapshot of the results from the first 3,000 responses [PDF, 454 KB].

In late November we held a series of stakeholder workshops to define the 30-year wellbeing aspiration for Greater Christchurch – our people and place.

We had over 150 people attend these workshops, which built on the knowledge gained from the 3000 online survey responses.

You can see a summary of the aspirations and measures below from each of the workshops which are key inputs into the development of our strategic outcomes and vision.

Over September – October we spoke to 383 rangatahi in workshops about what they want Greater Christchurch to be like in 2050, what they liked least about Greater Christchurch right now, and what should be prioritised for 2050.

See a summary of these workshops [PDF, 1.4 MB].

In November we ran a business survey asking participants what makes Greater Christchurch an attractive business location and undermines Greater Christchurch as a business location both now and in the future.

Read a snapshot of the results here [PDF, 393 KB].

Over the coming months, we will be working on the detailed development and testing of the draft vision, outcomes and collective actions.
